In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, presents "Shooting the Moon: Photographs from the Museum’s Collection 50 Years after Apollo 11." The installation features 40 photographs ranging from documentary images of NASA’s mission to the moon to fanciful pictures including a 19th-century portrait of a man in a solar-themed costume. Notable works include Ansel Adams’s Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico; Hitoshi Nomura’s ‘moon score,’ December 19, 1975, representing an intersection of Conceptual art and stargazing; and Cortis and Sonderegger’s recreation of Buzz Aldrin’s first footprint on the moon.
