The Smallest Fighters
Houston SPCA is hosting a baby shower for its newborn puppies and kittens
Spring is synonymous with baby animals, and that's especially apparent right now at the Houston SPCA.
More than 98 vulnerable kittens and puppies are currently in the Houston SPCA’s neonatal nursery, staying warm and being gently hand-fed every few hours — but the rescue and protection organization is expecting to care for hundreds more tiny animals this spring.
The lifesaving nursery is critical for these babies until they are stable enough to go into foster, which then prepares them for adoption and includes spay or neuter surgery, up-to-date vaccinations, and a microchip.
Want to help? The Houston SPCA is currently hosting a virtual baby shower and you can shop the wish list on Amazon or Chewy, which includes items like formula, food, kitty litter, and puppy pads.
The Houston SPCA is funded solely by donations, and your one-time or monthly donation makes a huge impact.
If you'd like to go a step further and foster adorable kittens and puppies until they are ready for adoption, head here to learn more about joining the Foster Family.
Adoptions are open daily Monday through Sunday from 11 am-6 pm at the Houston SPCA's Adoption Center, 7007 Old Katy Rd. You can view all the available pets in advance at www.houstonspca.org.
