Now that the mercury is rising, it's perfect park weather. And if Hermann Park is your favorite green space, you no longer have to go hungry.
For weekends in March and the entire week of spring break (Saturday- March 20), Becks Prime has opened a catering operation in the cafe that formerly housed Little Bigs. It's located in Lake Plaza, at the nexus of the Houston Zoo, Kinder Train station and McGovern Lake.
Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Becks serves an abbreviated menu of burgers, chicken sandwiches and hot dogs, as well as a kid menu, chips and drinks.
It remains to be seen whether this partnership between Becks Prime and Hermann Park is just a spring fling or a trial phase for a more permanent installation, something in line with the Becks Prime in Memorial Park.
"We'd love to be in Hermann Park and we have so much fun at Memorial, but it's a different challenge. Hermann is much more weather dependant — on a sunny Sunday you have huge crowds but if it rains there's no one there. That's something we have to consider, and the decision to start small with the weekends in March was something that we and the Hermann Park Conservancy agreed on," says Molly Voorhees of Beck's Prime.
