Chocolate Bar reimagined
Favorite Rice Village chocolate shop relocates and rebrands with coffee, treats, wine, and more
A Rice Village favorite for sweet treats has a new name and a new location. Winfield’s Chocolate Bar recently opened in the bustling shopping district.
Located at 2531 University Blvd., Winfield’s is two doors down from The Chocolate Bar, the concept it replaced. Similar to the original location of Winfield’s that opened in Upper Kirby last year, Winfield’s Chocolate Bar offers all the familiar favorites from the previous concept: sky high layer cakes, ice cream, chocolate bars and bonbons, and the signature chocolate-dipped strawberries. New offerings that distinguish Winfield’s include an expanded coffee program and the ability to pair a dessert with wine, champagne, or port.
The new name pays homage to Becks Prime co-founder Win Campbell, and his great-uncle Winfield, who owned a bakery during the Great Depression. Campbell is the father of Molly Voorhees, who is president of both Becks Prime and Winfield’s as well as a co-founder of Agnes Café & Provisions near Rice Village.
Voohees worked with Sean Garrison and Levi Lemaster from Garrison Design Office to create the look of the approximately 1,900-square-foot space. The design includes vintage accents and comical artwork. A highlight are a series of display cases loaded with chocolates, cakes, ice cream, and more. Retail shelves are stocked with both imported Belgian chocolates as well as Winfield’s signature chocolate molds and other chocolate-covered treats.
Winfield’s opens at 11 am Monday-Saturday and noon on Sunday.
