A new generation
M Penner celebrates launch of fashion magazine with the stylish Millennial in mind
While M Penner has been in the clothing business for 39 years, owners Murry and Karen Penner know that to remain successful they have to change with the times.
So the duo have created a slick new lifestyle magazine that combines elements of GQ, Details and Town & Country. The latest issue of the M Penner magazine, which comes out quarterly, features a new generation of stylish young Houstonians who are "entreprenurial, ambitious and ready to remake the world."
Cited as style trendsetters are Kelly Wolf, general manager of indiGO Auto Group, nurse anesthetist Cherie Schoppa, attorneys Brett Riesenfeld and Hunter Craft, Allie Herzog Danziger, president and founder of Integrate PR, Eric Lindsey, owner of Kharisma Hair Studio, and Eatsie Boys partners Matt Marcus, Alex Vassilakidis and Ryan Soroka.
"We have some great young people shopping here," says Karen Penner. "They're the next generation coming up and making their way into the world."
To appeal to the stylish younger client the store is stocking styles by John Varvatos, Etro, Z Zegna, Faconnable, Eton shirts and VK Nagrani socks.
To celebrate the magazine's launch the Penners hosted a party at their Uptown Park store, where the Eatsie Boys served their signature Frank the Pretzel (chicken sausage frank on a pretzel bun) and Pork Snuggie (pork belly in a thin steam bun), from the food truck parked outside, along with 8th Wonder beer. Inside a DJ spun tunes while guests posed in a photo booth.
Enjoying the festivities were Barry and Nanette Putterman, David Brown, Mason Herring, Jenny Selber,Jim Wetwiska, Sam Governale, Eric Gustafson, Franelle Rogers, Al and Barbara Marcus, Brent Chaney, Byron Hood, Arlene and Steve Lassin, Sam Governale, Lauren Mills, Pam Roberts, Mark Strum, Lisa Friedlander, Maddie Solari, Forrest Green, Ellyn Josef, Stacey Burke and Brenna Croom.
