Spiked milkshakes, loaded fries & burgers galore: Aggie-approved joint headed toCityCentre
For a city that's been ranked as having the best burgers in the America (and therefore the universe), there sure are a lot of new burger guys from other locales coming to take on the juicy Houston market, from Denver's Smashburger to Virginia's Elevation Burger, with The Burger House on the way from Dallas as well.
The latest contender, however, started out much closer to home. Grub Burger Bar opened its first location in College Station earlier this year and the concept is expected to expand to CityCentre in early 2013, taking a second-floor space next to RA Sushi.

In addition to blending a proprietary mix of chuck and brisket in-house every day, Grub also hand-cuts the French fries daily and bakes buns fresh every hour. The menu is full of not-your-grandpa's-burger creations like the Ghost Burger (with habanero cheese, ghost chili sauce and grilled jalapeños) and the Lockhart Legend (which comes topped with two Shiner-Bock-battered onion rings, house-made Dr. Pepper barbecue sauce, applewood smoked bacon, smoked cheddar and sliced dill pickles).
There are also chicken, turkey and ahi tuna burgers on the menu, as well as a vegetarian option with a patty made from chickpea and eggplant topped with roasted red pepper mayo, arugula, red onion, goat cheese and tabbouleh on a wheat bun. Plus, Grub offers a gluten-free bun option.
In addition to the main burger menu, the sides are also enticing, with the aforementioned beer-battered onion rings and fry options that include the decadent Luau fries, with pulled pork, cheddar cheese, grilled pineapple, jalapeños, onions and barbecue sauce.
There's also a menu of classic hand-spun milkshakes in flavors like salted caramel and mint chocolate chip, as well as an adults-only spiked milkshake menu that includes options like the Jitters (espresso vodka and hazelnut) and a Bourbon & Caramel shake.
