Mobile video editing just got free
The iMovie eater: Vimeo releases a free video shooting and editing iPhone app
We're not sure whether to cheer or yawn at the news emerging from Vimeo today.
The more-professional-than-YouTube video sharing site (finally!) released an iPhone app — its first one ever, only about an epoch behind YouTube.
For those inclined to express boredom, stifle it.
You ought to know that Vimeo's app isn't just a sad excuse for what YouTube is already doing exponentially well. In fact, we'd posit a guess that it's going to turn the world of video editing apps upside down.
First of all, it's free — like, at no cost to you. Keep this in mind while we regale you with tales of how this app can shoot and edit video, the app's ability to pick up editing where a weak data connection cut you off, and sharing via every social network known to man.
The only other app that we know of with the same capabilities on the go is Apple's proprietary iMovie, for which you'll need to drop a cool $4.99.
But oh yeah, did we happen to mention that Vimeo's app is $0.00?
Mobile enthusiasts, do you feel like cheering or yawning now? Because if we weren't mistaken, we thought we saw a fist pump from your iPhone-outstretched arm.
