10 best haunted houses in Houston for Halloween chills and thrills
Halloween is upon us, which means you're actually looking for a scary fright (as opposed to the jolt when scanning your credit card statement). And nowhere can you get a terrified fix more than at a haunted house. These elaborately horrifying attractions are always a staple this time of year, and Houston offers something for everyone. So, for your shocking pleasure, here's a list of the spots looking to make you shriek this October.

This creeper in Rosharon has three main attractions — Pitch Black, Dark Woods, Scare Factory — along with several side attractions that'll freak you the hell out. Runs through November 3. 7 pm.

Apart from having the most clever name of all the local, haunted-house attractions, this Angleton haunt has three, not-for-the-kiddies attractions: Fearson's Farmhouse, Unhinged, and Dead End Corn Maze. Runs through November 3. 7 pm.
The Haunted Trails
It doesn't have a house, but it is a "thrilling outdoor adventure" with two freaky attractions: the aforementioned Trails and Psycho Hollow 3D. Runs through November 3. 8 pm (7:30 pm on Halloween night).
Houston Scream Fest
Scream Fest has a number of things going on inside its haunted house, from live concerts to carnival games to movies on the big screen — to guests shooting at zombies. Runs through October 31. 8 pm.
Houston Terror Dome
This Channelview attraction claims that its haunted house is the "scariest." This year, the Dome will have improved rooms, new effects, and new characters. Runs through November 3. 7 pm. (8 pm Friday and Saturday).

As the name suggests, this Kingwood spot is designed to give you the bona-fide heebie jeebies, with its spooky stories "that would make you question the limits of humanity." Runs through November 3. 8 pm.
The National Museum of Funeral History
The museum offers up a family-friendly, haunted experience. Children under 12 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Runs through November 4. 10 am (noon on certain days).
Phobia Haunted Houses

REDRUM Haunted House
This spot in Richmond has souped up its three main attractions — Cinegore, Twisted Circus Rewired 3D, and the Deadwood Asylum — with major upgrades and new twists and turns. Runs through November 3. 7 pm.
