Rhinestone cowboy: Brazen robber pulls an assault rifle out of his man purse,cleans up at Tiffany's
Workers at a Woodlands jewelry store were shocked Wednesday afternoon when a man shopping for rings suddenly pulled out an assault rifle . . . from a fancy bejeweled handbag.
It was just after 4 p.m., when the suspect walked into the Tiffany & Co. store in the Market Street shopping area. After speaking with a sales assistant, the gentleman pulled out the gun and grabbed several pieces of jewelry.
"Witnesses described the suspect as carrying a rhinestone murse. The whole robbery took just a few minutes."
He unleashed a dose of pepper spray at employees as he fled the shop on foot, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. No other customers were in the store at the time.
"Witnesses described the suspect as carrying a rhinestone murse," MCSO lieutenant Dan Norris tells CultureMap. "He ran off with a still undetermined amount of merchandise. The whole robbery took just a few minutes."

An official statement from Tiffany & Co. said that the company is cooperating with local authorities and hopes to open at noon on Friday.
