The Big Day
No more fake suspense: Rick Perry drops any pretense, Governor Goodhair set toformally announce
The world's worst kept secret is officially out. Rick Perry will officially announce that he is running for president in South Carolina on Saturday.
Not just "make it clear" or talk about his "intentions." Officially announce. That's the latest from numerous sources around Perry, cited by numerous outlets. CNN became the first to break in with the "news" of a firm, official declaration on Saturday. Perry spokesperson Mark Miner later confirmed that Perry is running.
Of course, there have been "breaking reports" that Perry would make it "clear" or declare his "intentions" in South Carolina all week — and anyone who's been following Perry with even the slightest of interest has known that he's running for months.
As Harris County Republican chair Jared Woodfill told CultureMap's own Clifford Pugh on Monday, "I am 100 percent confident he will and should run."
Now no one needs to pretend otherwise anymore. The Governor Goodhair stories have already started and the narrative is being set.
