What: Opening party for the new Springbok gastropub.
Where: 711 Main St., ground floor of the building that houses Capitol Lofts.
The 411: With its official opening on Monday, Springbok held a sneak peak over the weekend for friends and fans of South African-inspired cuisine. Los Angeles transplants Peter Walker and chef Seth Greenburg had previously hosted World Cup-viewing parties before the kitchen was ready but this was the real deal. With the ovens fired up, the owners put on a spread that included chicken Peri Peri, lamb sausage, oxtail with Yorkshire pudding and pork belly. On the second floor terrace, guests cooled down with Titanium Tequila margaritas and BJ Hooker's vodka cocktails.
Who: The mix of downtown residents and young professionals included Josh Espinedo, Lindsey George, Sharif Al-Amin, Nathan Reedy, Lisa Lee, Hilton Bruchard, Kim Padgett, Hilton Bruchard, Jon Severson, Sergio Maracita, Brittany Zucker, Robert Tijerina and chef Ben McPherson.
