St. Luke's nurses model for Tootsies, take home their outfits at Friends ofNursing luncheon
Denise Monteleone and Dr. Veronica Selinko-Curran were over the moon on Thursday with the success of their "Color My World" luncheon benefiting the Friends of Nursing of St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital. They had a full house in the River Oaks Country Club ballroom and brought in $309,000 (beyond their goal) for nursing scholarships and continuing education.
The 2012 benefit chairs, after all, had to live up to last year's record-breaking event chaired by Jana and Scotty Arnoldy, chair of the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital board and a director of the St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital System. He was in the audience and, just as last year, wearing his tuxedo for a stroll down the catwalk as an escort for the St. Luke's nurses who were models in the Tootsies fashion show that accompanied the luncheon. Joining him in the tuxedo attire and helping with escort duties was Chester Jones, executive chair of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System Board of Directors.
And now about those models and the spring frocks in which they paraded. Tootsies'Mickey Rosmarin has once again proven himself to be the generous hero, giving the outfits to the nurses who modeled them. No one could have been more pleased for her staff than Karen Myers, vice president and chief nursing officer at St. Luke's, who spoke on the value for the Friends of Nursing contributions.
Contributing to the success of the luncheon were Friends president Terri Reul, Jo Lynn Falgout, Ellie Francisco, Mike Curran, Tricia Dewhurst, Sandy Barrett, Patsy Fourticq, Donna Vallone, Carol Linn, Janet Cockrell, Susan Fine and her husband David Fine, president and CEO of the St. Luke's Episcopal Health System. This reporter served as luncheon emcee.
