By all local reports, Randy Rucker was supposed to be on the first plane to South America after his surprise resignation from Rainbow Lodge in September.
While he may still have plans in Peru (he has said he plans to help his friend Carlo Testino open a new restaurant there, but Testino has run into delays), Rucker has spent his fall turning out his superb, hot-ticket Tenacity Supper Club dinners and announced Wednesday via Twitter that he plans to open a new restaurant in Tomball in February.
Rucker, a self-described "fourth-generation Tomball-ian" will open Bootsie's Heritage Cafe in an adorable converted house at 112 Commerce St., across the street from the Whistle Stop Tea Room. Bootsie is for Bootsie Collins, Rucker's mother who serves as co-owner and inspiration.
The only hint at the menu and other things to expect? Randy says a "Mother Rucker" burger will be in order, though we have to imagine what amazing things that might entail.
