New Food Hot Spot
Houston's next food hotspot? New sushi restaurant to open in mixed-use development, joining a trendy crowd
BLVD Place is rapidly becoming a top culinary destination. Already home to Houston's newest Whole Foods and healthy restaurant True Food Kitchen, phase two of the development will add a Japanese restaurant called Sozo Sushi to previously announced tenants Peska Seafood Culture and North, an Italian restaurant from True Food owners Fox Restaurant Concepts.
According to Bob Conwell of NewQuest Properites, Sozo Sushi will be an upscale sushi bar from Bill Hou, who owns the 12 location Shogun Grill & Sushi Bar chain and hibachi restaurant Taisho in Sugar Land Town Square. Pending receipt of permits from the City of Houston, Conwell expects Sozo to open in approximately three months.
Located about True Food Kitchen, the large patio overlooks San Felipe.
Whereas both Shogun and Taisho feature hibachi and sushi, Sozo will offer a more sushi-centric menu. Details on the menu and chef will be revealed closer to opening.
Designed by Identity Architects, a firm with credits that include the Perry's Steakhouse chain, the 3,800 square foot space will feature a contemporary, modern look. Located about True Food Kitchen, the large patio overlooks San Felipe.
Can a successful suburban operator find success near The Galleria? Will Sozo become a new sushi hotspot? Stay tuned.
