A Westheimer kick
The coffee vigil is over! Long-awaited shop finally opens on Houston's newrestaurant row
Sean Marshall, the coffee roaster behind Fusion Beans, has been promising a brick and mortar coffee shop in Montrose for well over a year, so it was with some eagerness that we watched a sign go up in front of Uchi this summer — and with growing impatience that we awaited an opening date.
After a number of fits and starts throughout the fall, word finally came Friday: Southside Espresso has opened at 904-C Westheimer.
A quick stop-over in the afternoon revealed that many others were just as anxious for the new area coffee shop, with several small groups gathered around tables and people posted up with laptops as if they'd always been there.
Marshall tells CultureMap that Southside will be open from 7 a.m. to midnight beginning on Saturday, and that he's expecting to receive a license to begin selling wine within the next few weeks.
The shop's Facebook page reveals that local pastries, meats, cheeses and other foodstuffs and small plates will also be served.
