Pass & Provisions (not so quietly) opens in the Gravitas space: All the detailson a foodie frenzy
It looks like there's no such thing as a quiet opening anymore.
At least not if the restaurant opening is The Pass & Provisions, the highly anticipated restaurant in the former Gravitas space from Seth Siegel-Gardner and Terrence Gallivan that has already received national attention, not to mention a collaboration with Marcus Samuelsson.
"Other than the fact that it'll serve epic food, I predict there'll be lots of sex in the bathrooms at @PASSPROVISIONS. trust me on this one."
While the official social media channels for the restaurant have gone dark, as soon as the friends and family preview dinners started on Monday, Twitter and Instagram was full of glowing reaction from lucky insiders.
"Other than the fact that it'll serve epic food, I predict there'll be lots of sex in the bathrooms at @PASSPROVISIONS. trust me on this one," tweeted Amber Ambrose.
Other chefs and foodies continued the raves online on Tuesday. CultureMap contributor Ruthie Johnson Miller dubbed the beet cake with yuzu sherbet "excellent," and loved the visual appeal of the menus, while Jim Gossen of Louisiana Foods tweeted that the Sewansecott oysters made him "feel lucky." Fluff Bake Bar's Rebecca Masson called it a "fantastical dinner," and Haven honey Linda Salinas said it all with one word: "Wow."
While there's been no announcement of an opening date, a tipster tells CultureMap that Pass & Provisions accepted some walk-ins on Wednesday, seating them at the community table.
If you try to snag an early seat, she says to look for the bread pairings (like a "roasted grape bread with vanilla tapenade and a salty semi-soft cheese"), the uni pizza and a check that comes in a cute sardine-type can.
And don't forget to tweet about it, too.
