Justin Basye steps down from Stella Sola to join the Revival; Ghetto Dinnerschef moves in
Sad news for Stella Sola fans: Chef de cuisine Justin Basye is leaving the restaurant, according to Eating Our Words' Katharine Shilcutt.
Basye has been the face of the restaurant almost since day one, and his stint at the restaurant earned him a nod as a semifinalist for the James Beard Rising Star award in 2010.
Shilcutt says the split is amicable and that Basye will move into consulting, including putting his charcuterie talents to work at Revival Market (now that's a partnership worth getting excited about).
And it sounds like Bryan Caswell and company have already found someone to fill Basye's spot, recruiting Adam Dorris of Grand Prize Bar's popular (now mostly retired) Ghetto Dinners.
(Side note: It looks like Dorris is bringing back the Ghetto Dinner one last time at Grand Prize Bar on April 25, with proceeds to benefit Linda Salinas.)
Will you miss Basye's skills at Stella Sola, or are you more excited about his Revival plans?
