Houston hotel undergoes a historic name switch — and new rooms accompany the throwback moment
Make a wish and blow!
And blow hard, as the recent celebration of the Alden Hotel name change back to The Sam Houston Hotel included a whopping 220 Texas-style cupcakes and candles courtesy of Sprinkles Cupcakes — and, of course, a huge Lone Star beer toast.
The festivities coincided with Texas Independence Day and Sam Houston's birthday, March 2.
Originally opened in 1924, The Sam Houston Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guests can now enjoy renovated guestrooms, public areas and meeting and event spaces at The Sam — even if the hotel's new signage isn't quite ready to reflect the name switch.
Happy birthday to all . . . "and many more!"
