Museum takes you beyond the X-ray with new exhibit: Do you really know what healthy is?
If you're looking for some hands-on family fun, head on over to the Health Museum to check out its newest exhibit, "Beyond the X-Ray."
This week's KHOU CultureMap Moment highlights the new exhibition, where kids can be a radiologist for the day and learn what doctors are looking at in X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds and MRI's.
"It's a traveling exhibit but it's brand new to the health museum," says the Health Museum's marketing and communications director Whitney Bennett.
"Of course Houston has an award-winning medical center. What a better way to learn about health than the Health Museum?" says CultureMap's Joel Luks. "This exhibition teaches us beauty from the inside out, and this is one of the most unique offerings in the Houston area."
"Beyond the X-Ray" isn't just for kids either. Adults can get a hands-on lesson about mammography in one of the four major interactive areas.
"The kids will probably find the five different imaging techniques the most fascinating. You can actually hear a story from a patient and what that imaging technique did to save their life," Bennett says.
The exhibit opens Saturday and continues through May 3. Tickets start at $7 for children.
