Wet 'n wild: Wake Nation to make extreme sport waves in Houston suburb
Rabid fans of extreme sports now have one more reason to end up in Rosharon.
As if Skydive Spaceland didn't do enough to swill your thrill, the tiny suburb of a suburb is getting yet another high-speed way to trip your trigger — a wakeboarding park.
The swanky Wake Nation, based in water-deprived Cincinnati, will be plonking down its big diggers to bring a drenching diversion within driving distance of town by spring 2011.
"We are very excited about bringing the area's only full-scale cable wakeboarding park to Houston," Wake Nation's CEO, Peter Kennedy, said on the company's website. "Wake Nation Houston is being designed to provide the ultimate ride experience to both first timers and experienced boarders."
Who needs to wade in the tar ball-strewn tide of Galveston Bay, when you've got manmade, well-maintained entertainment on the way? No one, that's who.
Construction begins this fall, and we're going bathing suit shopping now. We want to be the first to stick a toe in the crisp, cool waters of commutershed.
