Navigate the Bayou City Art Festival with your phone and your friends atCultureMap
If you're planning on attending the 40th annual Bayou City Art Festival in Memorial Park this weekend, you'll be greeted at the entrance by friendly faces in yellow T-shirts. While it's always nice to make eye contact, we'd like to direct you to their chests.
Perhaps I should explain: Each volunteer at the entrance will be wearing an interactive tee — an IT-shirt, if you will — with a QR code on the front. You can scan the code using any free mobile app (we recommend NeoReader) with your mobile phone and be taken straight to a mobile guide of the entire festival.
New to this QR code thing? It's like a next-generation barcode that you can scan with your smartphone to be led to a mobile optimized website built just for smartphone viewing. This one? We built it. No bigs.
QR codes will be making appearances all over Memorial Park, and every artist booth will have one adjacent to the artist info for your scanning, browsing and clicking pleasure. Scanning the booths' codes will take you straight to each artist's individual mobile guide page, and if you come see us at the CultureMap booth, you'll find we've got fancy schmancy IT-shirts, as well. Ours will take you straight to CultureMap's mobile site, so you always have a dose of our urgent sass on the go.
And if you're appless (but not hapless), fear not — you can just navigate to culturemap.com/houstonartfest on your mobile phone for all the same mobile guide goodness.
