Oh, League City
Two graying city councilmen throw punches at each other in a $48 million budget meeting
Budgetary issues came to blows in League City this week when local police rushed to scene of a fist fight between two council members.
Dan Becker and Dennis O'Keeffe were discussing the city's $48 million budget with League City Mayor Tim Paulissen and two other council members.
Known adversaries at city council meetings, Becker and O'Keeffe got physical enough during the chat that law enforcement was contacted to control the situation.
The two men, each in their late fifties, were issued citations for disorderly conduct . . . not a proud day for League City.
KHOU's Shern-Min Chow spoke with one area resident who thought the part about the police storming into City Hall was "awesome." Beyond that, though, he said he would not forget the incident come election time.
