It's complicated
Bill Nye the Science Guy now an authority on oil spill cleanup
Bill Nye (the Science Guy) recently graced CNN with his scientific estimations of a number of reader-contributed oil spill solutions.
Among the solutions submitted via-YouTube? A giant ShamWow. Nye (obviously) did a lot of debunking, but wasn't exactly what I would call proactive.
Besides being a blast from the past and essentially grading science projects from the generation he taught (if remotely), Nye concluded his spot with a plea to respect energy professionals.
"The people working on these problems are engineers," he said. "People who have dedicated their lives to learning about nature, to learning about science, to learning about the process through which we understand the world. So, I hope that along with all the concern, we do get respect for how complicated it is to provide everyone with all this energy that we all use all the time.”
Well put, but we still can't get enough of this.
But let's break this down again. The Science Guy and Kevin Costner have both been deemed worthy of giving their oil spill opinions while Houston's MacGyver continues to be ignored.
