Faith and medicine pack the River Oaks Country Club and bring out a baseball star
Houston Methodist's second annual luncheon brought together doctors and theologians for a program focusing on the growing recognition of the connection between faith and medicine with inspiring personal testimonials, poetry and hymns.
More than 400 filled the River Oaks Country Club ballroom for the "Faith & Medicine" event chaired by Cathy and Mel Jodeit, Libbie and Greg Nelson, Houston Methodist president and CEO Dr. Marc Boom, Dr. Julie Boom, Houston Methodist vice president for Spiritual Care and Values Integration Charles Millikan, Laura Millikan, Houston Methodist Research Institute president and CEO Mauro Ferrari and Paola Ferrari.
Houston Methodist's Dr. Eugene Alford spoke on how faith helped him come to terms with the loss of his son and an accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. The Rev. Jaime Clark-Soles of the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University spoke on the relationship between suffering and hope.
