Chic Houston ladies step up for local animals at stylish soiree
What: “Lunch with Lela” benefiting Houston PetSet
Where: Neiman Marcus
The scoop: More than 50 of Houston’s most chic and animal-loving socialites gathered at Neiman Marcus to preview Lela Rose’s latest collection, featuring canine-inspired pieces such as the “Man’s Best Friend Print Shirt Dress.” As part of the fashion designer’s dedication to animals, the event, styled to imitate a New York City rooftop garden party, also helped raise money to support Houston PetSet's mission to end the homelessness and suffering of Houston’s companion animals.
Champagne flowed as models flaunted more than 20 of Lela Rose’s new arrivals. During the brief fashion show, Rose took the mic to explain to guests the theme for her Fall 2019 New York Fashion Week presentation, where each look was accompanied by an equally sophisticated pup.
Partygoers were treated to a three-course luncheon, while Houston PetSet co-presidents Tena Lundquist Faust and Tama Lundquist thanked guests for attending the event in support of their philanthropic cause. With the help of co-chairs Alicia Smith and Brigitte Kalai, the hosts raised over $5,000 for Houston’s homeless pets.
