Femmes Fantasticos: Hall of Fame businesswomen revealed in a hot summer party
Tootsies was percolating with late-summer energy Wednesday night when the Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce unveiled its 2012 Hall of Fame honorees at the popular emporium.
A dozen women, making their mark in H-Town, were applauded by close to 200 guests as they were introduced and presented a long-stem red rose.
The honorees to be presented at the Hall of Fame Gala in December are Gracie Cavnar, Jane Page Crump, Dr. Kelli Cohen Fein, Ellie Francisco, Winell Herron, Susan Kellner, Susan Krohn, Melissa Mithoff, Carrin Patman, Mary Spangler, Dr. Elizabeth Travis and Beth Williams.
Serving as co-chairs for the event to be held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel are Valerie Gibbs and Mary Ann Wilkins. Philamena Baird serves as honorary chair. The evening will raise funds to promote the organization's mission of "engaging, educating and empowering women to be successful."
Highlight of the first schmooze fest since most Houstonians have returned from summer vacation was the personal appearance of jewelry designer Gelines Chapa, whose creations in semi-precious and precious stones had the ladies making a wish list.
GHWCC board chair Leisa Holland-Nelson welcomed the crowd that included GHWCC president and CEO Suzan Deison, Margaret Williams and Jim Daniel, Dana Kervin, Danielle and John Ellis, Mary Dee Holtzapple, Linda Lorelle, Linda and Alexander Rogers, Cherri Carbonara, Michael Francisco, Ileana Trevino, Doug Herron, Belinda Rowell, Lacey Dalcour-Salas, Sofia Adrogué and Beth Wolff.
