Sugar highs sweep through Highland Village as Sprinkles arrives
Let them eat cake! OK, make that cupcakes and for the VIP crowd gathered in Highland Village, make that Sprinkles Cupcakes, the Beverly Hills-based, Oprah-blessed confectionery.
The Hollywood sweet treats moved into town in a big way with an opening night party at which more than 300 swells swilled Veuve Cliquot and consumed a zillion calories in cupcakes. Neal Hamil, Carolyn Farb, Vance Muse, Alexandra Knight, Julie Soefer and Carlos Meltzer were among those sampling cupcakes in popular flavors key lime, strawberry, black & white and signature red velvet.
Sprinkles founders Candace and Charles Nelson, in from California, made the scene handing out samples as they greeted guests including Erica Rose, Dominique Sachse, Derek Jones, Gigi Huang, Nick Espinosa and Karen and Murry Penner. In a twist on tradition, guests entered through the kitchen on a red carpet path that led through shop to the outdoor party scene.
Those concerned with cupcake calorie consumption could burn the fat by dancing to the sounds of DJ Sun who set up his gear in the air-conditioned tent.
Who else was there? Ernie Manouse, Miya Shay, Maribelle Gordon, Monsour Taghdisi, Candice and Lonnie Schiller, Ceron, Jason Kaminsky, Roz Pactor, Tim Moloney, Roseann Rogers and Dr. Aashish Shah, Sarah Tucker and on and on and on. Obviously, not everyone has left town yet for the summer.
