Houston Community College Foundation keeps the scholarships flowing with successful gala

The scoop: HCC students and alumni played a role in the Willie Wonka-themed evening that featured a performance by scholarship recipient Amanda Solorzano with Divisi Strings, a testimonial by HCC grad Wendi Hay, and headlines from board president Shawn Taylor that the foundation had awarded $1 million in scholarships for the 2015-16 school year. HCC fashion grad Joi'Zei Reyes designed the dress worn by Sue Sim, who shared the gala chair post with husband Randy Sim.
Mayor Sylvester Turner presented special honors for their support of education to Susan Sarofim, the Individual Crystal Eagle Award, and to Memorial Hermann Health System, the inaugural Corporate Crystal Eagle Award.
