With Barbara Bush on board, Houston Hospice brings in record funds at ButterflyLuncheon
With Barbara Bush in the house, you can rest assured that your charity event will have success written all over it. So it was with the 11th annual Butterfly Luncheon benefiting Houston Hospice for which the former First Lady attended as honorary chair.
And sure enough, the event, attended by more than 375 guests, raised a record $230,000. Presiding over the luncheon at the Hilton Post Oak Hotel were luncheon chairs Ann and Stuart James, assisted in their duties by Giff Nielson, who served as emcee.
Ron Hall, co-author of the best seller Same Kind of Different As Me, was guest speaker.
Proceeds from the luncheon assist with Hospice initiatives including the Butterfly Program, developed in 1996 for pediatric hospice care.
Supporters included Nancy Ruez, Cyndy Garza Roberts, Harriet Foster, Jes Hagale, Ginger Blanton, Susan Baker, Sally and Bob Thomas, Lori and Dan Wolterman, Hospice board chair Rich Walton and Hospice president and CEO Jim Faucett.
