Brock's Time
Girls Pint Out power: When wild beer babes invade Saint Arnold and kick out themen
Saint Arnold Brewing Company was the rowdiest we've ever seen it Tuesday night, and owner Brock Wagner was in the best spirits.
The welcome hall was filled to the brim with craft beer lovers and home brewing teams (favorite team name goes to "The Brewsers") and there was nary a man in sight — they weren't invited.
The event — organized by Girls Pint Out — sold out quickly (almost as fast as the Saint Arnold Weedwacker), which was no surprise since the entry fee was $10 for bottomless beers plus a regulation-size Girls Pint Out pint glass. Male staffers seemed amused, if overwhelmed, as Wagner gave especially laid back and comedic brewery tours to inquisitive female beer fiends.
Wagner said it was certainly the most women Saint Arnold had ever seen on their own, and spoke about his earliest attempts at brewing, from his Rice dorm room.
Girls Pint Out is a national organization with 10 chapters including groups in Austin and Washington, D.C. as well as Houston. Self-described as "Gals into Grolsch, Angels of Ale," they host periodic events devoted to education about and enjoyment of fine craft beer.
