Chow down with Chris Shepherd and his Houston chef friends as new cookbook drops

Exciting news for home chefs: Chris Shepherd's cookbook that he co-authored with Kaitlyn Goalen, Cook Like a Local, is out today.

An advocate, not an appropriator, Shepherd tells the story of the city — and country — in which he lives. His food incorporates elements of all these cuisines, and his book asks diners to visit the restaurants that have inspired him, meeting, learning from, and cooking with the people who have taught him.

To celebrate, Shepherd got behind the wheel of his 2019 Lexus LC 500 to meet some of the local chefs that have influenced him.
