Macaroni in the Land of Sugar: Jus' Mac is heading to the 'burbs with secondlocation
Looks like macaroni is on the move. Jus' Mac, the Heights café that serves close to 20 flavors of the comfort food staple (plus panini and salad), has announced plans for a second location in Sugar Land.
The mac spot is heading into the former Cupcake Cafe space across from First Colony Mall, with a planned November opening.
Sugar Land is only the first part of a brand expansion that stretches beyond Houston, according to owners Patrick and Kimberly Alvarez. The long-term plan is to own and lease out five or six corporate-owned Jus' Macs with additional franchises as a possibility.
"Sugar Land was a nice option, low risk, and we know the demographics," says Patrick Alvarez. "It just came up quicker."
The next location on their radar is a little further outside Houston — in Austin, to be exact.
"For us everything is going 100 miles an hour, but we're OK with that," says Patrick Alvarez, who says the Heights location will always be their baby.
The Sugar Land location will have the same mac and cheese favorites, but the Alvarezes say the larger kitchen at that location will serve as a test kitchen for more ideas they hope to mix into their repertoire.
