The revolving kitchen: Brandon Fisch becomes the latest chef to leave YelapaPlaya Mexicana
Yelapa Playa Mexicana is making a change in the kitchen again.
It was announced Monday morning that executive chef Brandon Fisch has left Yelapa. Under Fisch's brief tenure, the restaurant seemed to be returning to the same heights of creative, flavorful, coastal Mexican food that it reached under opening chef L.J. Wiley. (Wiley left Yelapa's kitchen last November).
Both parties are playing nice about the new split on Twitter, with Yelapa's account commenting "We thank @B_Fisch for all the great work he did here and wish him nothing but the absolute best! ... There is no doubt in our minds that [Fisch] will have a very promising career as a brilliant Chef." Yelapa owner Rob Lippincott also thanked Fisch for "giving us a giant leap forward."
Fisch, for his part, tweeted "I would like to wish @YelapaMexicana luck on all their future endeavors. It was short but sweet thank you guys for the opportunity." Perhaps a break from the kitchen means Fisch will join the in-between chefs in the Les Sauvages dinners?
What did you think of Fisch's time at Yelapa? Is this good news or bad news for Yelapa?
