Houston's Rooftop Cinema Club takes it to the streets with DYI graffiti hip-hop night and Brad Pitt beerfest
Yes, Houston's insane temps seem more quadruple-digit than triple-digit , but that's not stopping locals from enjoying cinema al fresco at the wildly popular Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown for open-air movies and themed nights.
Now, everyone's favorite movie club in Uptown's BLVD Place (1700 Post Oak Blvd.) is back with two hot and cool — literally — themed events. First up is hip-hop night at 8 pm Wednesday, August 23, in honor hip-hop's 50th anniversary 50th anniversary this month.
Fans can kick it old school with the 1984 film beat-filled flickBeat Streeton the 24-foot-state-of-the-art LED screen. Cool kids can expect music, drinks, and shopping via an eclectic mix of local vendors. Rooftop will also be showcase archival graffiti video footage from the 1990s before the screening.

To really make a splash, Rooftop will bring back Houston's most renowned street artist, GONZO247, for a street art session. Guests can select from various pre-cut stencils and a vibrant mix of spray paints to create their personalized graffiti masterpiece. Need some inspo? The award-winning GONZO247 will be on hand to share the tricks and techniques he's honed over decades in H-Town.
Rooftop regulars may remember that GONZO also headlined a previous hip-hop night in June, adding his skillz to a screening of Juice.

Meanwhile, viewers who really want to binge can also catch Barbie and The Conjuring showing on the rooftop the same evening as hip-hop night, as Rooftop Uptown is now the only venue in the world to boast two screens, as we reported. (Get tickets here.)
The day after hip-hop night, Rooftop will present the historic action and gloriously over-the-top Inglorious Basterdsat 7:10 pm Thursday, August 24. Event partner Saint Arnold Brewing Company will refresh viewers with choice beers meant to pair with Quentin Tarantino's WWII revenge fest starring Brad Pitt. Saint Arnold reps will also hold court as they discuss their famed Oktoberfest brew and other specialty beers.

Tickets start at $20.50 for a single Adirondack chair experience. Guests can add popcorn to their ticket for $4 extra, or upgrade to a loveseat plus popcorn for $7 extra. As always, food and snacks are plentiful on-site, with beer, wine, and canned cocktails available for sale. In a nod to busy parents whose kiddos may have specific diets, guests can bring outside food (no outside drinks are permitted).
Consider these two events a way to catch open-air flicks, spray some street art without hitting the streets, and cooling off with a refreshing brew as the temps drop below 105.
