Kings Harbor – North Houston's Premier Waterfront Village

Doing good, having fun: Kings Harbor event calendar full of concerts, festivals that matter

Kings Harbor is more than just a destination to shop, dine and relax. It’s also a community-centered locale, where area residents gather to support one another and various organizations.

The agents at Keller Williams Realty Northeast, are frequent supporters and sponsors of events at Kings Harbor. Concerts, festivals and other enriching events that fill the Kings Harbor calendar, with new experiences added all the time.

Cultivating a relationship with the community is a top priority, so events feature charities such as Mothers Against Cancer, Special Olympics Texas and educational organizations. Concert-goers have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets at each concert for the chance to win prizes donated by Kings Harbor restaurants and retailers.

Roland Duhon, a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty Northeast and marketing chair, says the events are mutually beneficial.

"We ask the community to support us by buying and selling their homes with us, so these events are a good way for us to give back to them," Duhon says. "We can entertain them, it's free and we can all give back to the charities that have struggled the last couple of years."

The live music calendar at Kings Harbor is diverse, offering everything from Elvis tribute artist Donny Edwards and the FEVER band with Roy Orbison tribute artist Wayne King on June 15, as well as Level One band, known for its mix of party favorites, on July 20 and Austin-area favorite SoulTrack Mind performing Aug. 17.

Music isn't the only focus of the outreach at Kings Harbor. Just as the business community and residents join forces for fun, they also come together for more meaningful events such as Max Fest, an event slated for Aug. 25. Max Fest is an annual musical festival celebrating the life of Kingwood High School student Max Keevill, who was killed in a car accident in January 2011. The event remembers Keevill in a heartwarming way and raises money for the Maximilian Keevill Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for local students.

Kings Harbor is also the home of Hispanic Heritage Night on Sept. 29 with a full evening of music and live entertainment for a good cause. The Hispanic Heritage Executive Society International helms the event and proceeds from the night provide scholarships for Humble High School seniors and mentoring programs for students.

Twice a year, the concert series takes a larger turn and becomes an opportunity for vendors to set up shop at Kings Harbor. The Spring and Fall Festivals allow for seasonal shopping and the chance for local charities to receive even larger donations, since all the money from booth rental is donated to a charity of choice. Duhon says the spring event, which benefitted the Humble Area Assistance Ministries, raised $3,400 and stoked the philanthropic fires for fall, when the next event is planned for Oct. 6 from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Scott Pagano of Campbell Chiropractic loves that Kings Harbor is an entertaiment destination, but he finds it even more endearing how the center's retailers support the community. In January 2011, Pagano suggested expanding the festival, and it has continued to grow.

"It was an idea that was already working and the festival allows us to help charities that are doing such phenomenal things for the community," Pagano says. "They can't do it alone." It's another source of pride for Kings Harbor retailers.

"Kings Harbor is already on the map for being a place to go to have fun," Pagano says. "With these events, all money raised helps a charity."

Visit Kings Harbor to see what other exciting events are happening in north Houston's premier waterfront village.

Concerts at King Harbor make the center an exciting entertainment destination.
