New group that saves pets from death row gains momentum — and Houston love

The 411: A new charity organization founded by Cindy Perini, Dana Blankenship, Laura Carlock, Cheryl Felps and Timothy Lambert celebrated its partnership with BARC and a commitment to reduce euthanasia rates for Houston's adoptable pets by transporting them out of state to await placement with forever homes, no-kill shelters and rescue groups. In its first eight weeks, the group has given more than 400 dogs from BARC's death row a new lease on life. Founders celebrated with volunteers, supporters, benefactors and BARC staff to encourage guests to become short-term fosters and long-term supporters enabling expansion of the effort.
