Cowboy Carmageddon: Houston to get its own version of LA's 405 nightmare
Sure, it's no Los Angeles Carmageddon or anything, but it's certainly not going to be a walk in the park on Houston's freeways this weekend, either.
While the Angeleno freeway forecast calls for a complete closure of a 10-mile section of the always-packed 405 — and a virtual "ghost highway" that's created a near panic — a few of our city's major arteries will be clogged with construction for the next few days as well.
Heading west out of town? You'll hit a snag on the Katy Freeway (IH-10) from Mason Road to Katy-Ft. Bend Road all weekend long, beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday night through 5 a.m. on Monday morning. Frontage Road will be your best friend in skirting the area.
Unfortunately, that's not all.
The northbound Eastex Freeway (US-59) is also feeling the road closure pinch. From 9 p.m. on Friday night until 5 a.m. on Monday morning (are you sensing a theme here?), you'll need to exit on Little York and follow the signs to the next ramp.
It won't be Carmageddon. But we can guarantee that it won't be smooth sailing.
Houstonians, plan ahead.
