The real big bang: When a full moon outshines the fireworks
Even though most of the excitement during the Fourth of July typically comes from fireworks, a lot of people were almost even more wowed by the full moon this year.
The moon seemed to beam from behind fireworks, giving off a pleasing glow.
Michael Bludworth at his house in the Heights area, noticed — and he landed this great shot, our Pix of the Day. Bludworth has been watching fireworks from his Heights perch since 2007, and he's seen a lot since then, capturing plenty of it in pictures.
"It's nice looking back at how much the skyline has changed," he tells CultureMap. In his role as a volunteer "historian" at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum, Bludworth is able to be involved in Houston history in many different ways and he enjoys trying to "record" the changes.
Thanks for the photo, Michael!
