Houston, you're a cheap date: H-Town named a top summer bargain destination
There are life's great mysteries, and then there's cheap airfare to Houston in summer.
We get it. It's hot.
But it's nice to see that USA Today and smartertravel.com are ready to brave the near-triple digits temps to see what the city has to offer. They named Houston one of the top five bargain destinations for summer 2011 (along with New York City, Reno, Fort Myers, Fla., and Costa Rica).
Houston may be hot, but it's also a bargain this summer—and it's got the accolades to prove it. With spots in both Hotwire's Travel Value Index and Budget Travel's hottest budget destinations list, the city earns top marks for its good value on hotels, restaurants, and attractions."
The article gives Houston points for low airfare (due to our status as the largest hub for the world's largest airline), affordable hotels, and low-priced and free attractions.
One thing we also have? Air conditioning. And we have it everywhere. Bring it on, summer.
