Where everybody relocates: Houston's one of the very top moving destinations inthe nation
Out of all the destinations to settle down in the United States, Houston continues to stand out.
According to the American Moving and Storage Association, Houston ranked No. 3 among popular moving destinations from January to March of this year, based on inbound shipments.
A Yahoo! Real Estate report credits Houston's popularity to a "combination of reasonable housing prices and good job opportunities." Houston's average rent is $764 and $998 for a one- and two-bedroom apartment respectively.
It also offers arguably the best job market in the entire country. As other cities continue to struggle in economic doldrums, more than 94,700 jobs were added in Houston between January 2011 and January 2012.
Still, Washington D.C. earned the top spot despite its high rents. The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the capital is $1,736 for a one-bedroom and $1,744 for a two-bedroom.
Other cities in the Top 10 moving destinations, include Phoenix at No. 2, Seattle at No. 4 and Atlanta at No. 5. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is the only other Texas city in the top 10, ranking No. 6.
