The Bees Knees in Film
Chipotle's sustainable film series at Discovery Green takes on the honey bee crisis
As the third installment of Chipotle Mexican Grill's "Houston Sustainable Film Series," the restaurant chain is hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary, More Than Honey, at Discovery Green on Friday, September 18.
The 2012 documentary examines the declining bee population and what it could mean for modern society — specifically for Houston. Chipotle hopes that the documentary can help change the way Americans think about and eat fast food, as well as encouraging awareness, dialogue and change.
The entertainment-filled evening begins with a performance by local musical group Folk Family Revival, which takes the stage at 7 pm.
Shelley Rice of The Grove will help introduce the film — which begins at 8 pm — and speak to its significance, and will also be available for questions from the audience. Additionally, Rice will offer a sampling of honey from Discovery Green's hive located on the rooftop of The Grove. The honey sampling will take place next to the Chipotle tent.
Admission to the event is free and the first 250 attendees will receive free chips and guacamole courtesy of Chipotle, which will also be onsite to provide attendees with buy-one-get-one offers.
