Fashion and art mash-up puts a wild, new spin on colorful, animated catwalk presentations
DiverseWorks is known and well-appreciated for its twist on traditional fundraising and the non-profit raised the bar once again with its second annual "Fashion Fete," a dance-, art- and fashion-filled night held at the alternative art space's headquarters in Midtown.
Chairs Caroline Starry LeBlanc, Duyen Huynh, Kate Allen Stukenberg and Gail Rubin orchestrated what one supporter described as "a multi-disclipinary mash-up."
While there was beaucoup schmoozing between DiverseWorks supporters, who seem to have a penchant for rock star or fantasy dressing themselves, highlight of the bash was the runway presentation. No ordinary fashion show, mind you.
Page Parkes models swept the catwalk in the latest men's and women's fashions from Sloan/Hall, Leap, Laboratoria and Settlement Goods & Design. The fashion fest was interspersed with dance interludes choreographed by Lydia Hance with music arranged by Mark Hirsch. Frame Dancers Jacquelyne Jay Boe, Danielle Gonzaba, and Alex Soares transformed the space into a magical setting. Covering a variety of artistic disciplines the set was designed by Daniel Adame and live animations created by Seth Mittag.
The party crowd included Tim Moloney, Sara Beth and Paul Seifert, Jay Landa, Frida Dillenbeck, Jason Fuller, Mandy Kao, Norman Ewert and Erin McCarthy.
