Beautiful people rock: Black-tie dinner concert is sweet music for young artists — and moms
The ballroom of the Royal Sonesta Hotel was filled with beautiful music and beautiful people when Virtuosi of Houston presented its 12th annual dinner concert. The black-tie evening drew an audience of more than 400 who helped raised more than $250,000 for the young artists program.
Orchestrating the musical evening were chairs Zarine and Meherwan Boyce and honorary chair Monzer Hourani, accompanied by Carol Horany. Providing the musical interlude were Virtuosi's Young Artists Chamber Orchestra, under direction of Franz Anton Krager and Andrzej Grabiec.
In a salute to Mother's Day, the evening honored 13 mothers, each of whom was presented a commemorative brooch designed by Franco Valobra.
The honorees were Tricia Dewhurst, Mayor Annise Parker, Kathy Hubbard, Margaret Alkek Williams, Gina Bhatia, Marie Bosarge, Shirelle Chimenti, Carolyn Farb, Dr. Kelli Cohen Fein, Jo Furr, Cora Sue Mach, Kathi Rovere and Mandy Tinkle.
Of course, the honorees' husbands turned out in force along with the other guests including, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Dr. Devinder Bhatia, Barbara and Ulyesse LeGrange, Barbara Van Postman, Dr. Ed Bosarge, Bill Rovere, Lance Livingston, Anne and Dr. John Mendelsohn and Jim Furr.
