Some things just go together, like gin and vermouth, scotch and soda or tequila and lime. Another duo that seems like it's going to be around for a while? Anvil Bar & Refuge and magazine adoration.
For the January 2012 issue, GQ compiled a guide to the best examples of the new cocktail culture, and of course Anvil merited a mention. But this list isn't just about Prohibition-era recipes — GQ distilled the modern cocktail programs into four categories: barrel-aged, local and seasonal, molecular and silver platter.
It's the first time GQ has turned its sights on Houston since taking in the Rothko chapel and Randy Rucker's Bootsie's in late 2010.
