Keeping It Fresh
A home design wonderland: CITYCENTRE emerges as a home decorating hotspot with stores galore
You update your wardrobe each fall with individual pieces that keep your look classic but on-trend. Why not do the same for your home?
It's easy to freshen up interiors with the help of CITYCENTRE, a hotspot for home decorating. On-trend inspiration abounds thanks to distinctive destinations and retailers in every price range.
"Z Gallerie is inspired by natural elements this season — layering semi-precious stones, agate and marble and pairing them with subtle metallics in silver and gold," says Gordon Andahl, public relations manager for the chic home goods store. Try incorporating some geo-glitz into your decor with the Acropolis Bookends ($69.95) or the Alabaster Box ($24.95).
Looking for something with a bit more saturation? "You'll find rich colors in shades of Mandarin, Sapphire and aquamarine. We love how Mandarin can bring a fresh pop of color to most rooms," suggests Andahl, pointing to the Snake Box Mandarin ($39.95) and the Sofia Collection dish ware in Aqua ($14.95-$19.95).

As summer softens into fall, Z Gallerie rises to the occasion. Andahl explains, "One of our favorite Collections this year is our Mongolian collection of pillows and throws in rich Angora. It is very chic and adds warmth and texture to sofas, beds, chairs and chaises."
Add a touch of the unusual to your abode with wares from neighboring retailer, Anthropologie. The CITYCENTRE location stocks unique, detail-oriented home objects, from exotic textiles and hand-painted ceramics to art books and artisan furnishings with a global vibe. Sister store Urban Outfitters offers the necessities for a loft lifestyle — think affordable art prints, convertible sofas, bold rugs and trendy trinkets that elevate any space.
Think outside of the box at Paper Source for a low-budget, high-impact home transformation. "Not only does Paper Source offer seasonal decorations — like garlands, wreaths, ornaments and more — Paper Source is also great for adding finishing touches to your home throughout the year," an store rep notes. "We offer home decor items like tea towels for a cute kitchen finish, candles for great hostess gifts and calendars and chalkboard wall decals for a clean home office!"
If you're interested in a do-it-yourself project, look no further. According to the Paper Source rep, "We always encourage people looking for an inexpensive home project to consider using fine paper. Paper Source carries a wide array of fine papers in different colors, patterns and motifs. Consider collaging or framing your favorites to make a unique art piece. They'll make a stunning statement, and most of the paper is less than $5!"
Prefer leaving the art-making to the professionals? Muir Fine Art Gallery at CITYCENTRE brings renowned, world-class artists to the Houston scene for art collectors and avid appreciators alike. The gallery highlights a rotating selection of artists each month so there is something for all tastes, from playful pop culture tributes by Jimmy Houston to the serene cityscapes of Irina Alexandrina to Casey Horn's evocative sculptures.
