Sip, Shave, Shop
The guy’s guide to the CultureMap Holiday Pop-up Shop
Gentlemen: Raise your hand if you enjoy fighting your way through a chaotic, impersonal shopping mall — all in the quest of a decent holiday gift. Keep your hand raised if you enjoy navigating said mall fueled only with overpriced, food court beverages (or whatever spirits you can sip from your own flask, to cope with the madness).
We suggest you use the hand you clearly haven’t raised, to click here and RSVP for our annual CultureMap Pop-up Shop. If you’ll excuse our humblebrag, we’ve concocted the perfect guy’s shopping experience at Silver Street Studios:
Sip
We suggest arriving early, for a visit to the mimosa bar, courtesy of Whole Foods and Korbel. You can also enjoy some grape from Noble Vines. For something a little stronger, stir things up at the Ketel One cocktail cart, with its fresh fruits and herbs, or hit the Gentleman Jack Club for something classic. (You can balance your pregame with some choice eats, too.)
Shave
We generally advise against drinking and shaving, but here, the Gentleman Jack’s Barber Shop has you covered (with a hot towel). You’ll get lathered up, trimmed, and expertly coiffed for your day of gift grabbing.
Shop
Now that you’re fresh and clean, take your perfectly groomed self to our expertly curated group of local retailers, which offers gifts for your sweetie, kids, co-workers, your pets, and yes, even your selfish self. You’ll find specialty barbecue sauces and rubs, manly menswear and gear, boutique clothing and bath options to spoil her, and even custom bedding for a pampered pooch: Check out the entire list of specialty retailers here.
Chill
Bringing a kiddo or three? Let them create their very own Christmas Story scene, as they sit on Santa’s lap for a photo (and fib about how nice they’ve been this year). And as the kids spin their holiday tales, DJ Bizonee will spin tunes to get everyone in that holly, jolly spirit.
Add to the feel-good vibe by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to benefit the Toys for Tots Foundation. The first 50 guests to do so will receive their very own major award.
Parking is free, and if you plan to get really spirited, there’s even a discounted Uber code: POPUPSHOP. Consider it our gift to you.
So, are you up for a hellish trip to your local mall to fight over impersonal wares? Or, would you rather pop into our chic shopping party off Washington Avenue? (That’s a rhetorical question, gents: See you at Silver Street.)
