Tag it: GONZO247 transforms Saint Arnold brewery logo into graffiti art
"Is it possible to get more bad ass than this?" Saint Arnold Brewing Company tweeted late Tuesday afternoon, linking to an image of Houston graffiti artist GONZO247 setting up the outlines for a new mural at the brewery's Fifth Ward facility.
"I finished up around 12 last night after working for a solid four hours," the artist told CultureMap. "I like to step back from a new piece for a while, just to see how it could be tweaked. I'll be back later today to finish the project."
Based on one of the Saint Arnold's logos featuring the the patron saint of brewers and hop-pickers himself, the mural will greet brewery visitors as they step off the elevator into the second floor foyer.

"[Saint Arnold founder] Brock Wagner and I had been talking about bringing some art to the facility for a while," said GONZO247, who runs the street art gallery Aerosol Warfare on the East End. "We decided a mural would be the perfect starting point."
Wagner has been a strong supporter of Houston artists and non-profits since he founded the company in 1994.
"Brock and I basically took an existing design and urbanized it," he said. "I brought in bold colors and sharp outer edges to translate the Saint Arnold logo into graffiti art."
The owner and artist have several other walls in mind for mural projects, including a large piece GONZO247 will design himself.
See the new mural during Saint Arnold's tours — Monday through Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Aerosol Warfare will host a special reception on Saturday, Nov. 26, featuring artwork from a forthcoming Houston street art documentary, new material from the gallery's current artists, and an installation of archival work from the organization's early days in the 1990s.
