Blindsided
Sandra Bullock losing a Razzie and a husband? At least Oscar's loyal
There's another valuable prototype missing.
This time it's the original Razzie award — worth thousands of dollars as a rare collector's item. Winners of the worst in film awards are customarily given a cheapie replica.
When Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock surprised the award-givers by showing up in person to collect her Razzie for Worst Actress (most winners of Hollywood's worst are no shows), chaos broke out. Razzie chief John Wilson admits he handed Bullock the wrong, original Razzie statue by mistake instead of the $4.79 copies that are given out to the worst winners.
Bullock collected the dubious honor for her involvement in the travesty that was All About Steve the same year she won her Academy Award for The Blindside, making her the first person to get an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year.
As if Sandy weren't going through enough, the organization is now recalling the award — not because they reevaluated her performance, but because they need their prototype back to keep making Razzies.
In true classy Bullock fashion, she's now promised to return the trophy. Watch her Razzie acceptance speech below:
