Good to be a Blogger
Chevy Girls on the Go get going in the new Traverse
Any day is a good day to be handed a set of keys to a brand new, state-of-the-art vehicle, but for 23 Houston-area bloggers, a regular Wednesday morning became extraordinary thanks to The Houston Area Chevy Dealers and its Chevy Girls on the Go program. Influential and active social media mavens were hand-picked by the car company to get behind the wheel of a 2012 Diamond Chevy Traverse for two weeks and provide feedback about their experience. If the initial meeting was any indication, the women were in for one sweet ride.
The Grove and Discovery Green served as the backdrop for the key exchange event, and between the blue skies and the fleet of gleaming white Chevy Traverse vehicles, the scene was set. The women first gathered in the Vista Room for a cozy breakfast and to learn what was in store. The campaign is especially exciting for the car company because this is also Chevy’s 100th year of operating, and the Traverse is loaded with cutting-edge features and plenty of room.
The excitement was palpable, since the crossover vehicles were lined up nicely and easily seen from the Vista Room perch. Cameras rolled and pictures were taken as the group headed into the day, knowing a new vehicle was waiting for them.
Once outside, each woman searched for her name on a card and met her Chevy Ambassador, who gave each blogger a Chevy Traverse primer. The information was impressive; the vehicles have the ability to start remotely by a key fob, or even turn the air conditioner on with a cell phone.
The women have spent the past two weeks writing and posting videos about their experience driving a Traverse. The Houston Area Chevy Dealers were looking for honest assessments of the vehicles and chose the Houston women from all walks of life. Most are mothers, some are urban dwellers, while others live in more rural areas. Their blog topics cover parenting, coupons and saving money, maximizing social media and product information and reviews. Deemed the “Chevy Girls,” the group is a tight-knit bunch and provided an ideal avenue for the car company to spread the word about its newest vehicle.
Chevy staff were manning bullhorns and clearly just as thrilled as the women chosen for the project. The bloggers were given the green light to roll, and that they did — windows down, horns honking and engines revved.
It was a good day indeed to be a Chevy Girl for The Houston Area Chevy Dealers.
