Finding The Perfect Fit
Made-to-measure healthcare: Center offers innovative customized treatment with personalized approach
In a made-to-measure world, there’s no reason to settle for off-the-rack healthcare. From stress and depression, to allergies and weight gain, every person’s health requires a personalized approach and solution.
That’s the philosophy Dr. Steven Hotze of the Hotze Health & Wellness Center applies to each patient who walks through the clinic’s beautiful ivy-framed doorway.
Taking an innovative and customized approach to health care has been at the heart of the Hotze Clinic for more than 25 years, sparked by consistent and common complaints like allergies, stress, depression, weight issues and even fertility struggles.
At the heart of each medical concern, Dr. Hotze began to see a pattern, connection and deficiency. And all roads led directly to hormones, chemicals produced by the body and released directly into the bloodstream by organs known as endocrine glands. They travel through the body, allowing for internal communication among organs, tissues and cells, but what happens when the hormone call just isn’t going through?
The common complaints are hormone decline in men and women, hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, allergies and candida which result in an overall decline in health and wellness.
“If you’re going to enjoy the rest of your life, you must maintain health and wellness,”Hotze said.
“Quite simply, the aging process is the result of declining hormone levels. As levels drop below their youthful peaks you may begin to lose energy and gain weight, have difficulty thinking and concentration.”
The answer, Hotze found, lies within the power of bioidentical hormones to restore hormones to optimal levels, strengthen the immune system, and increase energy levels.
Bioidentical Hormones for Women
Hotze employs bioidentical hormones rather than synthetic hormones to replace the exact hormone blueprint that was lost through the aging process.
Typically pre-menopausal women are prescribed progesterone, while progesterone and estrogen are given to post-menopausal women.
Hypothyroidism — Beyond a Blood Test
Hypothyroidism is typically determined through a blood test, but Hotze said many people fall outside the accepted parameters for hypothyroidism and the condition is often dismissed.
He takes another approach to hypothyroidism that includes a laundry list of ailments including energy loss, difficulty losing weight, joint pain, hair loss, dry skin and headaches.
“The way we treat it, is we listen to the patient and let her tell us her symptoms and then we will treat her based on her clinical symptoms,”Hotze said. Age and symptoms are carefully considered when designing a treatment regimen.
“It really is a custom fit,” Hotze said. “We adjust to meet your specific needs. This is not a one-size-fits-all plan.”
Adrenal Fatigue — Tired of Being Tired
Life is busy. And demanding. But for those who are always tired and ride one stress wave after another, adrenal fatigue may be the culprit.
Cortisol is the body’s naturally occurring stress hormone and when the adrenal glands are constantly under pressure, the body simply can’t keep churning out enough cortisol.
Hotze combats the problem with physiologic, subreplacement doses of bioidentical cortisol to supplement the adrenal glands.
Nutrition, allergies and candida are also diagnosis and treatment focuses at the Hotze Health & Wellness Center, but ultimately it’s about treating the individual and creating a plan that’s specific to their needs.
“We look at the body as a whole, because it all plays together,” Hotze said. “There are solutions and together, we find them. You can feel as good as you did in your 20s.”
